Our current food systems are harming our climate, nature and people’s health.

By shifting to plant-rich, inclusive and resilient food systems, we can ensure the world has access to healthy diets while staying within planetary boundaries.

Our Mission

The Food & Climate Action Group is an independent coalition of 25+ international NGOs advocating for food systems transformation within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Our mission is to promote and support lasting, systemic change in food consumption and production at global and national levels in order to reduce our reliance on animal-centric food systems as a pathway to stay within the Paris Agreement targets. We advocate for a shift towards more plant-rich, healthy, and affordable diets and sustainable, resilient, equitable and inclusive agricultural practices that benefit small-scale farmers/food producers and local communities.

To achieve this, the Action Group engages with UNFCCC bodies and associated agencies, Parties and Non-Party Stakeholders, to influence policy instruments, principles, and negotiations made under the auspices of the UNFCCC. We explore opportunities to engage in initiatives and processes outside of this framework when they advance our UNFCCC advocacy efforts.

Our Approach

Founded in 2022, after having evolved from the 50by40 partnership network, the Food & Climate Action Group unites a growing coalition of organizations with diverse expertise in food awareness, climate, environment, sustainability, animal welfare and health.

We seek to leverage the expertise and perspectives of our members, who are active across a wide range of countries encompassing regions from both the Global North and Global South. We take a data-driven and evidence-based approach and draw from the latest scientific research to inform our strategies and positions.

The Food & Climate Action Group is
action-oriented and member-driven, focusing on creating collective impact to drive meaningful change in food systems.
